ReFlexSmart develops smart, active orthoses for elbow recovery using shape‑memory alloys (SMA) to generate controlled, adaptive motion without bulky motors. The system integrates SMA actuators, embedded sensors (force/motion/temperature), an electronic control unit, and a mobile app for therapists/patients—enabling progressive, personalized therapy and real‑time feedback. Target users: rehab/orthopedic clinics, neuro‑rehab centers, athletes in post‑trauma recovery, and patients with degenerative conditions. Development pathway: Phase 1 – prototype (6–9 months); Phase 2 – clinical testing & start CE/MDR; Phase 3 – industrialization & scaling. Concept roots include a modular orthosis with arm/forearm fixation explored in prior work.
