Visit Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technologies, EMPA helps to shape the future of space exploration, where materials and components are pushed to their physical limits. Lab visits will include:

Laboratory for Thin Films and Photovoltaics that develops of high-efficiency thin-film solar cells on flexible, lightweight substrates

Laboratory for Advanced Metallurgy & Manufacturing of Metals that develops alloys for extreme environments

Laboratory for Air Pollution / Environmental Technology that detects pollution with satellites such as Sentinel

Center for X-ray Analytics that participates in the ESA MAP project THERMOPROP

Laboratory for Joining Technologies and Corrosion that develops high-precision brazing and soldering processes for dissimilar materials. Namely active in BepiColombo and JUICE.

14:00 - 14:15 Welcome
14:15 - 16:00 Lab visits in several groups
Participants will take the bus from the Marriott Hotel at 13:30 and will return to the Marriott at approximately 16:30.
