ARGO-EU: Interregional Deployment of AI-Driven Geriatric Analytics for Personalised LTC
Direttore Scientifico at GIOMI CARE S.r.l.
Rome, Italy
About
ARGO-EU is an interregional initiative focused on deploying and scaling AI-driven analytics for personalised geriatric care through the secondary use of health data. Building on the ARGO analytics engine—already operational in Italian long-term care (LTC) settings—the project aims to extend its application to 2–3 additional European regions, creating a replicable model for data-driven elderly care.
The project’s core goal is to move the ARGO system from a mid-level technological maturity (TRL 6) to a near-market stage (TRL 8) by implementing it in partner-region LTC and hospital facilities. Central to this effort is the validation of AI-generated personalised care indices, such as the G-Index and RUG (Resource Utilization Groups)-based scores, using diverse, multi-regional datasets to ensure robustness and generalisability.
ARGO-EU also prioritises interoperability, aligning its solutions with European Health Data Space (EHDS) standards to enable secure and seamless data exchange across borders. Clinical effectiveness will be assessed through a coordinated multisite study led by FEM (Fondazione Emmanuel Miraglia)/MedResearch (Contract Research Organization), generating evidence to support the value of AI-enhanced geriatric care.
In addition, the project will design a roadmap for reimbursement and large-scale adoption, addressing economic and organisational barriers. By combining technological deployment, clinical validation, and policy alignment, ARGO-EU aims to accelerate the integration of AI into geriatric care systems, improving personalisation, efficiency, and outcomes for ageing populations across Europe.
