About

The Centre for Comparative Medicine and Bioimage (CMCiB) is the purpose-built centre for translational medicine of the Gemans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) attached to the Germans Trias University Hospital on the Can Ruti Campus in Barcelona, Spain.

The centre has been designed and equipped to carry out cutting edge biomedical studies, from pre-clinical models to new surgical minimally invasive techniques promoting and robotic-assisted surgery to provide Technology training on da Vinci Surigcal Systems. Bioimaging and computational methods are leveraged to operate a strict 3R policy and ensure all research is ethical and compliant with European standards.

Studies being carried out in the centre include an extensive range of research projects, from pre-clinical to clinical using fly, fish, small and large animal models. The purpose-built installation has state-of-the-art biocontainment (conventional, barrier and biosecurity level 3) areas with integrated laboratory and surgical facilities.
