Plexim, headquartered in Zurich, is a Swiss software company active in the field of technical simulation. For over 20 years we have successfully developed and marketed PLECS – the leading simulation software for power electronic systems and electrical drives. In addition, we offer automatic code generation and real-time systems as pioneering technologies for the development and test of controls. Our customers are industrial corporations of all sizes, research labs and technical universities. They develop systems for electrical energy conversion and thus drive the transition towards electromobility and renewable energy sources. Plexim's simulation tools are heavily employed in the development of electric cars, rolling stock, wind turbines, solar inverters and power supplies.

About me

Riccardo Breda was born in Conegliano, Italy, in 1996.

He received the M.S. Double Degree in electronic engineering from the University of Udine, Udine, Italy, and the University of Klagenfurt, Austria, in 2021 and the PhD degree from the University of Udine, Udine, Italy, in 2025.

From 2019 to 2025 he was carrying out research in high-power high-performance electrical machines, drives and power converters for demanding applications at the Power Electronic Converters, Electrical Machine and Drives (PEMD) Laboratory at the University of Udine, Italy.

From 2023 to 2024 he was a Visiting Scholar at the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC) of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, United States.

He is one of the first recipients of the IEEE PELS Graduate Studies Fellowship and John G. Kassakian Fellowship.

In 2025 he joined Plexim GmbH as a power electronics engineer.
