The manner of concluding a contract and the choice of a contractor fall within the scope of freedom of contract and depend solely on the parties to the contract. However, they are of key importance for the desired outcome. The same applies to the choice of court and the choice of law, respectively in domestic or international relations. We know that the wrong choice of court or the wrong choice of law governing the contract can cause enormous complications and costs. We know that every court must know its own law and must apply private international law, regardless of whether the parties invoke it, but practice varies. We know that in international sales of goods, general terms and conditions of sale, especially in relations with suppliers from Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Germany, exclude conventions such as the UN Vienna Convention, but in such cases the ABGB, ZGB, or BGB must be applied, and it is necessary to be familiar with them. We assist in resolving these issues at every stage of the relationship between trading partners.
