Noise Locator

Noise Locator is a technology company developing AI-powered noise traffic cameras for cities and road authorities.

Our system automatically detects and identifies excessively noisy vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, in real-world urban traffic. Unlike conventional noise monitoring systems that measure ambient noise at a location, Noise Locator connects a noise event to a specific vehicle, even in moving, multi-lane traffic.

The system combines acoustic sensing, video analytics, automatic license plate recognition (ALPR), and AI-based processing to create an objective evidence package for each detected noise event. Depending on the deployment and local regulations, this can include video with synchronized audio, vehicle images, license plate information, measured sound level, time, location, and other metadata.

Noise Locator is designed as an end-to-end solution for smart cities, transportation authorities, environmental agencies, and law enforcement. It can support several use cases:

• Detecting excessively noisy cars and motorcycles
• Identifying vehicles with modified or excessively loud exhaust systems
• Monitoring unnecessary honking and other traffic-related noise
• Mapping and analysing traffic noise hotspots
• Collecting objective data for urban planning and policy development
• Supporting enforcement workflows, including warnings or penalties where legally applicable
• Providing data to smart city and traffic management platforms

A key advantage of our technology is its ability to operate in complex urban environments. The system is designed to distinguish individual noisy vehicles from surrounding traffic and can monitor multiple lanes simultaneously. It supports both daytime and nighttime operation and performs processing on the device, helping minimise the need to transmit sensitive video data to the cloud.

We have developed and tested a working MVP and are currently looking for cities, transportation and environmental authorities, smart city programmes, technology partners, and research organisations interested in piloting the technology and evaluating its potential in real-world conditions.
