Dr Hans Koenigsmann joined SpaceX as the fourth engineer and played a key role in building the company from the ground up. As Vice President Avionics, he developed the Avionics, Guidance and Control, and Software departments, and designed the avionics system for Falcon 1.
He supported the first launches as Chief Launch Engineer, later taking on this role for Falcon 9 and the Dragon spacecraft. As Vice President of Flight Reliability, he was responsible for production quality, flight risk and safety. Together with his team, he investigated and resolved complex anomalies during missions. After 19 years, Hans Koenigsmann stepped down from his role at SpaceX in October 2021.
He holds a diploma from the Technical University of Berlin and a doctorate from the University of Bremen. He currently serves on the supervisory board of OHB and AstroForge.
