About

The Ministry for Urban Development and Housing is responsible for urban development and housing policy in the Hanseatic city. The overriding goal is to maintain and further develop Hamburg as a city worth living in. As Hamburg is both a federal state and a city, the specialised authorities correspond to the ministries in the federal states. Together with the districts, they also fulfil municipal tasks in Hamburg. The city aims according to its Climate Plan to live and work climate neutral by 2045.
