About

The INIT (Institute of New Imaging Technologies) is a research Institute of the Jaume I University of Castellon. It was created with an inherently multidisciplinary vocation and its aim is to scope all the fields involved that are necessary for the research and development of image technologies. To cover this broad spectrum, the institute is divided into sections:

•       Automatic Learning and Pattern Recognition

•       Geographical Information

•       Mathematical Modelling and Imaging

•       Visual Engineering

•       Optics

•       Interactive Visualization

•       Machine Learning for Smart Environments – GIANT

•       Videogames Research Group – GameRS

•       Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis – IA3

The main objectives of the INIT in the broad field of new imaging technologies are, predominantly:

  • To impulse, promote and develop a quality investigation to achieve excellence research concerning that is reference in the subjects, disciplines included within the institute’s competence.

  • To be a centre of quality research and professional training in new imaging technologies that allows INIT and Jaume I University to offer relevant and distinguishing teaching.

  • To promote technology transfer to social agents, business and institutions using a clear service vocation to the society that increases the connection and cohesion with the social environment.

  • To encourage and actively impulse initiatives that bring near and connect the university with the social and productive environment, such as the creation of technology-based enterprises.

  • To promote collaboration and joint activity execution with other institutes and research groups at the national and international level.

  • To consolidate and increase the synergies and collaboration between research groups that integrate the Institute, constituting a meta-group of researchers with a great potential and coordination to jointly participate in new challenges and new research, transference and training projects.
