About
The Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IRWiR PAN) is a leading research institution in Poland, specialising in interdisciplinary studies on rural development and the functioning of the agri-food sector.
The Institute conducts analyses on socio-economic and institutional transformation, innovation in agribusiness, development and effects of agricultural and rural policies, providing key recommendations for both the public and private sectors. Just in the past 5 years, the Institute has developed over 40 expert reports utilised by government administration, local authorities, and industry organizations.
IRWiR PAN participates in international research consortia, collaborating with scientific centres across Europe and the world. Currently, the institute carries out 6 Horizon Europe projects, 3 more received positive evaluation and will initiate in 2026. Two DG Agri framework contracts are being implemented by IRWiR PAN (one as a co-leader).
