Creation of a decentralised, highly secure civil collaboration platform

Horizon representative at First Civic Union

Budapest, Hungary

About

Europe still suffers from the remnants of a bipolar worldwide power structure that marked the Cold War era - USA vs. the Post-Soviet zones of influence. Our home country, Hungary is no exception from this rule. The now discharged government led by Viktor Orbán played the role of a Trojan horse for Russia, which had inherited the circles of the Soviet era of geopolitical interests. Having a new government (led by Péter Magyar) will not induce a profound change - therefore civil activity should still be secured from prying eyes.

Today's international conflicts are hidden behind a digital screen: every act of communication, including spying on enemies or suspected actors is primarily done in the digital universe, so discovery needs profound IT skills and advanced tools. Our aim is to provide a simple-to-manage, multiplatform mobile software solution which hides personal identities and makes only a synthetic contribution, the so-called "wisdom" available to untrusted entities (untrusted = whose affiliations and intentions cannot be known beforehand). The "capsules of wisdom" cannot be tracked back to the persons responsible for their creation, protecting them from a political power's surveillance and eventual oppression.

Hungary has been victim of a democratic backslide during the former 16 years, presenting forms of oppression (including monitoring of social media use and selective retribution based on the users' job positions), which must not be a practice within the EU whose vocation is to promote responsibility and freedom for every resident. Therefore we will be creating a smartphone-based toolset to limit personal communication to a walled garden, still enabling sharing of resulting knowledge. We are looking for use cases and eventually first-hand users to fine-tune responsible and resilient usage patterns before the large scale release of the toolset. We are also need collaboration in developing guardrails to guarantee that dark use cases would not thrive (which is unfortunately a very likely possibility when using highly secure IT applications, e.g. secure messaging or cryptocurrencies).

A functional preview is available on demand.
