HORIZON-CL2-2026-01-TRANSFO-02: Open topic: Strengthen Europe's social model and sustainable competitiveness through productivity

Senior researcher at Technological University Dublin

About

We are preparing a proposal for HORIZON-CL2-2026-01-TRANSFO-02 addressing how Europe can create virtuous circles between welfare, sustainability, and innovation-driven competitiveness. The project explores how welfare systems (including social protection) and innovation ecosystems can jointly reinforce inclusion, eco-social justice, and productivity in a context of structural transformation and uncertainty.

The project analyses how innovation ecosystems shape social and environmental outcomes, welfare, and eco-social justice, and how welfare systems and the European Social Model, in turn, enable, orient, and sustain innovation towards sustainability.

A central component is the use of foresight and scenario-building to explore alternative future pathways for Europe’s social model and productive systems, taking into account major uncertainties such as technological change, labour market transformations, demographic shifts, and geopolitical developments.

We are particularly interested in partners with expertise in welfare economics, social policy, innovation systems , and foresight methodologies. Previous experience in Horizon Europe or related EU-funded projects is highly desirable.
