About

SUNUM and BRISA are looking for a consortium they can join together as partners!

BRISA (Bridgestone Sabancı Lastik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.) is the result of a partnership between the world tyre market leader, Japanese Bridgestone Corporation and the Turkish Sabancı Group. Brisa has one of the world's largest tyre production facilities gathered under a single roof, producing nearly 500 different types of tyres.

SUNUM (Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center) is a multi-disciplinary, application-oriented research center. Since 2022, it has been the national coordinator of a sustainable circular economy synthesis and technologies platform called “LignoNANO”. This platform aims to contribute to the sustainable economy cycle based on raw materials such as lignocellulosic biomass, leveraging SUNUM's expertise, infrastructure, and experience in nanotechnology.

·       In the framework of the call HORIZON-JU-CBE-2024-IA-05: Selective and sustainable (co)-production of lignin-derived aromatics

We are interested in partnering with consortia focused on exploring:

1)    Novel chemical compounds and natural products as potential antidegradants, aiming to replace 6PPD and similar synthetic additives in tire industry.

2)    Replacement of commercial carbon black by lignin-based sustainable alternatives.

 ·       In the framework of the call HORIZON-JU-CBE-2024-IA-03: Enlarging the portfolio of commercially produced SSbD solvents, we are interested in partnering with consortia focused on exploring bio-based solvents as sustainable and safer alternatives to traditional petrochemical solvents in the rubber industry. BRISA proposes to test and evaluate alternatives to solvents like heptane in various chemical processes and across different stages of production.

 ·       In the framework of the call HORIZON-JU-CBE-2024-IA-06: Innovative bio-based adhesives and binders for circular products meeting market requirements, we are interested in partnering with consortia focused on exploring and testing bio-based adhesive and tackifying resins to promote adhesion between the polar reinforcement cord fabric and the non-polar rubber. Good adhesion between cord fabric and rubber is crucial for product quality and longevity.
