Playground Instruments

Modern day music production happens primarily in digital environments, with virtual instruments that are mostly controlled via hardware MIDI controllers. Switching back and forth between the MIDI controller and the PC keyboard for controlling the music production software interrupts the creative workflow, causing frustration and risking the loss of musical ideas before they can be recorded. Additionally, MIDI controllers usually take up significant amounts of space, yet are impossible to place in a way that does not conflict with the PC keyboard, since one will always be in the way of the other.

We have developed the Organic I, a PC keyboard for musicians which incorporates velocity-sensitive MIDI output, as well as other musical functionality needed for expressive modern day music-making. By combining these two essential tools we are making musicians' lives easier by reducing interruptions in creative flow, caused by switching between devices, and cutting down on necessary desk space.
