The Multidisciplinary Translational Cardiovascular Research (MTCR) Group is part of the Foundation for Biomedical Research of Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre (i+12), and works as a platform for generating innovative and practical knowledge in health, with a special focus on cardiovascular health.
Its mission is to foster knowledge creation and disruptive innovation that provides tangible benefits for patients, healthcare professionals, health systems, and the society at large, with a preferential (though not exclusive) emphasis on cardiovascular health promotion, prevention, and care improvement.
The group works through dialogue and collaboration within a multidisciplinary platform that brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds, ways of thinking, and methods.
· Public health and cardiovascular health promotion and organisation. Desing and analysis of plans to improve CV health and CV care at a societal level.
· Data Science: New ways of analysing health and health economic data (e.g. the Clinical Outcomes, HEalthcare REsource utilizatioN, and related cosTs [COHERENT] Model) including new value-based analysis models
· Gender and Cardiovascular Health: Analysis of sex- and gender-based differences and ways to reduce gender bias in health epidemiology, care and outcomes.
· Health Inequalities and System Evaluation: Analysis of geographical variability, quality of care, and efficiency of health systems.
· Digital Health: Use of AI, big data, and innovative digital tools for improving CV diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
· Mental Health and Cardiovascular Health. Research in the relationship between CV and mental health and ways to improve them.
· Evidence Synthesis and Meta-Research: Systematic reviews and meta-analyses in cardiology.
· Acute and Critical Cardiovascular Care: Pathophysiology, prognosis, novel therapies, and biomarkers.
· Secondary Prevention and Adherence: Strategies to improve treatment adherence in CVD, including psychosocial interventions.
