MDL Fonds (Dutch Digestive Health Fund) actively participates in international collaborations and research consortia, including European programmes such as Horizon Europe (Cluster Health and the Cancer Mission) and the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI). We are open to collaborating on projects across the full spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases, including oncological, acute and chronic conditions.
Within these collaborations, our added value lies primarily in outreach and dissemination: translating scientific knowledge into accessible information for patients, the general public, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders. We contribute expertise in communication, societal impact, patient perspectives, knowledge translation and implementation within the Dutch gastroenterology field. Where appropriate, we can connect consortia with clinicians, researchers, patient organisations, people with lived experience with gastrointestinal diseases and other relevant stakeholders. In this way, we help ensure that research outcomes are not only scientifically valuable but also reach the people living with gastrointestinal diseases and are translated into clinical practice.
We believe it is important to be involved from an early stage in consortium building and project development. This allows us to work together to define how our contribution can best support the project's objectives, maximise its societal impact, and ensure that the role of MDL Fonds is both meaningful and feasible. Clear agreements on roles, planning and visibility enable us to contribute sustainably to innovative projects while remaining true to our mission, strategy and societal role.
