About
SUPSI – University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland is one of Switzerland's leading universities of applied sciences, based in Lugano. It brings together education, applied research and knowledge transfer across engineering and ICT, architecture and design, health, business, social sciences and the arts.
Research relevant to this Doctoral Network is led at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) and its institutes (e.g. ISIN – Institute of Information Systems and Networking), where interdisciplinary teams work on human–computer interaction, artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT and sensor systems, and inclusive/assistive technologies. Our group designs and evaluates interactive, multimodal and multisensory technologies for learning, inclusion and therapy, with a strong focus on children and people with neurodevelopmental conditions.
SUPSI offers an established environment for training Doctoral Candidates: experienced supervision, an active portfolio of competitive grants (Horizon Europe, Swiss National Science Foundation), and a wide intersectoral and clinical network — schools, therapeutic centres, clinical and cultural partners — providing real-world testbeds, secondment opportunities and co-design settings. As a Swiss institution, SUPSI participates in MSCA actions with funding secured through the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SEFRI/SERI).
We are looking to join or co-build a Doctoral Network on AI-enabled adaptive technologies for inclusion, learning and well-being, contributing expertise in HCI, AI and inclusive interaction design alongside academic and non-academic partners.
