About

The Center for Automation and Robotics (CAR), a joint CSIC–UPM research center, advances interdisciplinary research in automation, robotics, and AI to address complex socio-economic challenges.

With over 100 researchers across 13 groups and 4 research units, CAR develops cutting-edge technologies for human-centered systems, field robotics, supervision and control, and autonomous systems. Its work spans from fundamental research to applied solutions, including intelligent robots, autonomous vehicles, AI-driven decision systems, and human-robot collaboration in structured and unstructured environments.

CAR actively collaborates with industry and participates in national and international research programs, while also linking research to postgraduate education through master’s and doctoral programs in Automation and Robotics.
