Project Description
Digital Capacity Building and Cluster Development for Rural Tourism Businesses
Project Overview
The Digital Capacity Building and Cluster Development for Rural Tourism Businesses project is an integrated regional development initiative designed to strengthen the competitiveness, resilience and sustainability of rural tourism enterprises through digital transformation, collaborative innovation and cluster development.
The project combines digital capacity building with the establishment of a Rural Tourism Cluster, enabling tourism businesses, local authorities, educational institutions and community organisations to work together within a structured collaborative ecosystem. By integrating digital skills, innovation, networking and destination management, the project seeks to transform individual rural enterprises into a connected tourism value chain capable of delivering high-quality visitor experiences and sustainable economic growth.
The project adopts the Triple Helix Model of Innovation, fostering collaboration between academia, industry and government, while extending stakeholder engagement to local communities and civil society. Through this approach, rural tourism businesses gain access to knowledge, technology, research, funding opportunities and new markets that would be difficult to achieve individually.
