About

AR-based exercise to address bone and muscle loss in cancer patients of different age, based on AI-driven patient modelling, multi-scale musculoskeletal models and predictive simulations.

The developed training system will promote individualized exercise protocols to address bone and muscle mass loss and balance deficits, based on AI-based predictive patient models, digital twins of cancer patients’ musculoskeletal system and models of its response to exercise-specific loading environment. An Immersive AR-based system, guided by gamification elements and the patient’s biofeedback will enhance user’s experience and safeguard adherence. The project will develop i) machine learning risk stratification models of sarcopenia and osteoporosis in cancer patients, ii) patient-specific musculoskeletal models of different cancer patients, ii) computer models of their osteoporotic bone, iii) estimates of peak local bone deformation levels exerted during types of exercise, iv) optimized training programs to address site-specific bone loss and reduce risk of fall, v) exercise games utilizing immersive Augmented Reality systems.

For this project, we are currently looking partners for the developing of Augmented Reality application and the AI-based patient stratification.
