MSCA Doctoral Network: Geospatial Approaches to Spatial Behaviour in Urban Systems

Head of Department at Yerevan State University

Yerevan, Armenia

About

We are preparing a proposal for the 2026 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks (MSCA DN) call and are looking for additional academic and non-academic partners.

The proposed 4-year doctoral network will recruit approximately 8–10 Doctoral Candidates (PhD positions) and focus on Geospatial Approaches to Spatial Behaviour in Urban Systems. The project will investigate how geospatial technologies and spatial data can improve our understanding of human behaviour in urban environments and support more sustainable, resilient and human-centred cities.

Potential research areas include:

  • GIScience and spatial data science;

  • human mobility and spatial behaviour;

  • urban analytics and digital urban systems;

  • AI and geospatial technologies for urban applications;

  • smart cities and urban resilience;

  • spatial decision support and urban planning.

The initial consortium is expected to consist of 4–5 core beneficiaries from Europe, complemented by associated partners providing secondments, field studies and training opportunities.

We welcome universities, research institutes, municipalities, public authorities, NGOs and companies interested in hosting Doctoral Candidates, contributing to interdisciplinary supervision, offering secondments or participating in joint training activities.

The objective is to establish a strong interdisciplinary doctoral network that combines geospatial technologies, urban science and behavioural perspectives to educate the next generation of researchers in urban informatics.
