About me
Dr. David Cabana is an interdisciplinary scientist dedicated to coastal resilience and adaptation to climate change. At the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, he focuses on integrating climate services into coastal governance and fostering community-led climate change adaptation strategies.
Dr. Cabana leads the Interreg Baltic project BEACH-SOS (2023-2025), which helps coastal communities and businesses in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) become more climate resilient by analysing the interplay of coastal tourism, beach management, and climate change adaptation to build local council capacity for improved adaptation. Building on this, he also leads the newly funded Interreg Baltic Sea Region platform Baltic PlaNet (2025-2028). This initiative aims to bolster the climate resilience of Baltic coastal municipalities by enhancing their ability to integrate extreme weather considerations into spatial planning while safeguarding natural and urban environments.
