Magnetic nanoparticles for smart & responsive materials

CEO at MAGN'UP

Paris, France

About

MAGN’UP develops magnetic nanoparticles that can be used as functional building blocks for a new generation of smart, responsive and magnetically activated materials.

Our current technology is based notably on colloidal magnetic nanoparticles and whose magnetic properties can enable remote actuation, controlled movement, local heating, material structuring and magnetic-field-driven assembly.
Magnetic properties are tuned by controlling nanoparticle shape, size, and composition, as well as solvent dispersion.

Beyond the fabrication of permanent and soft magnetic components, these nanoparticles open up a broad range of potential applications in advanced materials and micro/nanotechnologies.

Potential applications include:

  • Smart polymers and resins – embedding magnetic nanoparticles into polymer matrices to create materials that can react, move, deform or reorganize under an external magnetic field.

  • Self-healing polymers – magnetically responsive materials designed to support localized activation, particle movement or repair mechanisms after damage.

  • Magnetic hyperthermia – nanoparticles capable of generating localized heating when exposed to an appropriate alternating magnetic field, with potential applications in biomedical and other controlled-heating systems.

  • Microrobotics – magnetic particles and structures for remotely controlled micro-scale movement, positioning and actuation.

  • Advanced functional materials – development of new materials combining magnetic, mechanical, thermal or responsive properties.

We are particularly interested in joint feasibility studies, proof-of-concept projects and application-driven co-development to explore how MAGN’UP magnetic nanoparticles can provide new functionality within existing or future products.
