Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies "Giulio Natta" (SCITEC) - CNR
About
SCITEC, the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), carries out multidisciplinary research across a broad range of areas, including life sciences, green chemistry, energy, advanced materials, heritage science, and computational modelling.
At the Rome branch, the Molecular Modelling and Virtual Screening Laboratory (MMVL-Lab) develops and applies advanced computational strategies to address challenges in drug design, discovery, and development. Its expertise spans molecular mechanics, molecular dynamics, virtual screening, structure-based drug design, and computational drug repurposing.
By integrating physics-based methods with AI-driven approaches, the research activities support target characterization, hit identification and optimization, and the discovery of novel therapeutic candidates. This work has contributed to the identification and patenting of new drug candidates targeting autoimmune diseases, cancer, and cellular senescence.
SCITEC combines methodological development with translational applications, fostering multidisciplinary collaborations and supporting the advancement of innovative therapeutic solutions from early-stage discovery towards preclinical development.
