JOIN THE geneTIGA FINAL MEETING FOR FREE Targeted T cell therapy to cure immune diseases 23–24 November, 2026 | Rome - Italy
Grant manager at Innovation Acta S.R.L.
Siena, Italy
About
Project in detail
Immune-mediated chronic diseases are a growing global health challenge. Today, they affect more than 10% of the world's population, causing lifelong suffering, organ damage, reduced quality of life, and premature death. Beyond their impact on patients, these conditions place a major burden on healthcare systems and society, generating over €100 billion in direct healthcare costs each year across Europe alone.
Current treatments can help manage symptoms, but they do not provide a cure. Their effectiveness is often limited, and long-term restoration of immune balance remains a major unmet medical need.
The geneTIGA consortium is tackling this challenge by developing a novel gene-editing-based therapeutic approach. Focusing on IgA nephropathy (IgAN), the most common immune-mediated kidney disease and a leading cause of kidney failure, geneTIGA aims to pave the way for transformative treatments that address the root causes of disease rather than merely controlling symptoms.
Over 2 days, we will:
🔹 present the key results of the project
🔹 engage with gene-editing experts and stakeholders
🔹 explore future directions and real-world impact
The event will bring together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, industry representatives, patient organisations, and other stakeholders to discuss the latest advances in gene therapies and their integration into healthcare systems. Over the two days, participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, explore emerging challenges and opportunities, and engage with experts from across Europe and beyond.
