Parkinson diagnosis

Associate Professor at University of Cagliari

About

The technology is based on the identification and quantification of VGF  peptides, whose plasma levels selectively decrease during the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. To selectively identify these products in plasma with high sensitivity, the project integrates two complementary techniques: high-resolution mass spectrometry and a novel, sensitive immunoassay. based on Alpha-SCREEN technology. The project uses advanced technology to identify disease markers and develop a rapid test to help diagnosis, which may lead to earlier therapeutical interventions on patients. The technology we are developing aims to improve the previous data from both animal models and clinical patients, protected by an existing European patent entitled: “Method and kit for carrying out the early diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in vitro” ( EP3514546).
