EMG-Based Muscle Activity Analysis in LabVIEW Environment
- SECTION 11: Mini Scientific Student Conference
Rehabilitation aims to restore individuals who have suffered serious illnesses to healthy, fulfilling lives. Beyond the work of medical professionals, engineering plays a vital role in developing effective rehabilitation equipment. By integrating mechatronic systems with anatomical and physiological knowledge, innovative solutions emerge, such as using EMG as biofeedback. This project explores muscle activity analysis and EMG technology for rehabilitation, demonstrated through a LabVIEW program utilizing NI myRIO for real-time data acquisition.
The project begins with an overview of the neuromusculoskeletal system and muscle mechanics, followed by the principles of EMG, its diagnostic and biofeedback applications, and its role in modern rehabilitation, including EMG-controlled robots. Using LabVIEW, NI-myRIO with FPGA, and an EMG sensor, I developed a system demonstrating the potential of EMG-based biofeedback for muscle rehabilitation.
