TrueSim

TrueSim was founded by two ICU nurses, Pieter Tegelaers and Jasen Hashem, who spent years at the bedside caring for critically ill patients. They saw firsthand how fast a patient can deteriorate, and how much depends on a clinician recognizing the early warning signs and acting with confidence. They also knew the limits of traditional simulation training: valuable, but too costly and too infrequent to build that skill through repetition. TrueSim grew out of a simple conviction. Clinical reasoning is a skill, and likeany skill, it gets better with regular practice.

TrueSim is a Mixed Reality clinical simulation platform that helps healthcare professionals and students sharpen their clinical reasoning through repeated practice. Its medically validated scenarios let trainees work through the ABCDE approach to recognizing and managing patient deterioration, along with structured SBAR(R) communication and real-time decision-making. The platform currently includes 22 validated scenarios across three core clinical categories: Respiration,Circulation, and Central Nervous System. Passthrough keeps trainees anchored in their actual surroundings, while detailed clinical props, lifelike patients, and medically verified scenarios make each case feel real. Trainees use their hands to interact naturally with patients and equipment. TrueSim combines this simulation with a modular, hardware-independent application that supports multiplayer team training, backed by a web-based Learning Management System with detailed analytics and results.
