The Fundación de Investigación del Hospital General Universitario de Valencia (FIHGUV) is a non-profit scientific organization whose main objective is to promote, foster, and advance scientific, healthcare, and biomedical research. The Foundation manages the biomedical research activities of the Consorcio Hospital General Universitario de Valencia.

Mission
The mission of FIHGUV is to promote and strengthen research within the Valencia–Hospital General Department by providing structure, resources, and strategic guidance. The Foundation is dedicated to facilitating, securing, and managing research funding, as well as disseminating scientific outcomes that contribute to medical and technological advancement. It conducts research in priority areas, fostering collaboration with other institutions and research groups to establish a multidisciplinary biomedical research center focused on clinical translation and technology transfer.

Vision
The vision of FIHGUV is to expand the use of its resources to enhance interdisciplinary and interprofessional research addressing global health challenges, while increasing the international visibility of its researchers and clinicians. The Foundation seeks to act as a catalyst for coordinating health research across the Hospital General Universitario de Valencia, thereby contributing to innovation processes and ensuring the effective translation of scientific knowledge into clinical practice.

Since its establishment in 1999, FIHGUV has continuously expanded its research activities while enhancing its facilities and technological infrastructure. It houses laboratories equipped with advanced technology to support high-impact research projects and promote innovative approaches for improving medical and surgical practices.

FIHGUV also comprises the following specialized units and facilities:

Clinical Research Unit:
Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure for conducting clinical trials with medicinal products, this unit addresses the needs of both independent researchers and the pharmaceutical industry. It fosters collaboration and develops mechanisms that accelerate the transfer of pharmacological innovations to clinical practice.

Biobank:
A research support service responsible for managing collections of high-quality human biological samples and their associated data. It provides access to these resources for various research groups involved in biomedical and public health projects.

Clean Rooms:
The Foundation operates four working rooms and one high-security room, including facilities for cytostatic drug manufacturing, sterile non-cytostatic or biologically hazardous drug preparation, and two cell culture rooms.

Simulation Center:
The center’s primary mission is to provide students, residents, and professionals—both within and outside the department—with advanced, standardized, hands-on training in a safe and controlled environment to enhance medical skills. It features 34 mechanical and electronic simulation models that reproduce over one hundred pathologies and critical clinical scenarios.

Audiovisual Studio:
A professional recording space dedicated to the dissemination of scientific results and the production of educational and training videos.

Statistical Service:
Staffed by qualified professionals who provide scientific guidance on experimental design, data analysis, and the publication of research results.
