The University of Nottingham's Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) is an expert research group focused on additive manufacturing processes, materials, and business management, developing functional devices through multi-material and multi-functional applications for various industries. The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) is a new, state-of-the-art facility located between Nottingham and Loughborough, designed as a hub for rehabilitation, innovation, research, and training. The University of Nottingham is a key partner in the NRC, co-leading an academic consortium that integrates research, clinical services, and innovation to develop new rehabilitation technologies and treatments for various physical and mental health conditions.
As a PhD candidate, my work focuses on soft robotic devices. Due to their compliant nature, soft robotic devices are of significant interest in healthcare applications where comfort, portability and natural movement are required. In this project, wearable, multidirectional textile motion support systems will be developed for the rehabilitation of complex joint injuries and conditions. Bioinspired textile design will be combined with advanced Additive Manufacturing techniques and specialised modelling and control algorithms for multi-body systems.
