The Fraunhofer Institute for Additive Manufacturing Technologies (IAPT) in Hamburg is one of the leading institutions for the industrialization of additive manufacturing. We focus particularly on socially relevant sectors such as life sciences, energy, mobility, and security. Our research spans from component design to processes, factory planning, and digitalization: we consider the entire manufacturing chain. Numerous spin-offs and patent applications highlight the value of our innovations. Join us in shaping the future of additive manufacturing together with industry and public institutions. Although additive manufacturing is considered a digital production technology, there are still many open challenges on the path to full industrialization. That’s why we are working closely with industry to develop real-time, data-driven digital twin technologies for the digital additive production of tomorrow.
