About

FETICO – Confederation of Independent Trade Unions is a Spanish trade union founded in 1978. Over the years, it has grown into one of the country’s main multisectoral unions, representing more than 85,000 members across all sectors of the economy, with a presence in over 700 companies as of 2025.

With national scope, FETICO is composed of 14 regional federations and operates offices in more than 31 cities throughout Spain. Its headquarters are located in Madrid.

FETICO’s primary mission is to promote employment and improve the working and social conditions of employees and job seekers. The organization advocates for social dialogue as a fundamental tool in achieving these goals and actively promotes values such as diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace.

FETICO’s main areas of action include:

·         Social Dialogue and Collective Bargaining: As a recognized social partner, FETICO participates in social dialogue at the national and local levels, negotiating collective agreements that currently benefit over 400,000 workers. The union is also represented in the European Works Councils of major companies such as Auchan, IKEA, Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, and Apple.

·         Training: FETICO designs and delivers reskilling and upskilling programs tailored to labour market needs, especially targeting vulnerable groups. The organization runs its own training centre, Aula FETICO, and collaborates with training providers to reach a broader audience. In 2024 alone, more than 3,800 workers and job seekers received training through FETICO.

·         Employment Services: Accredited as an official Employment Agency by the Spanish Public Employment Service, FETICO provides job guidance and placement support to individuals facing greater challenges in accessing the labour market, such as long-term unemployed individuals, migrants, and low-qualified people.

·         Occupational Health and Safety: FETICO promotes healthy working environments by implementing initiatives that support the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of employees.

·         Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion: The organization develops and negotiates company-level plans and agreements that foster inclusive workplace cultures, including gender equality plans and diversity management strategies.

Sustainability and Social Commitment: Beyond labour issues, FETICO is committed to generating a positive societal impact. Through its “Social Commitment” department, the union collaborates with institutions and NGOs to support initiatives that benefit the broader community.
