XBW is an Italian company specializing in design, development and implementing custom lithium batteries for electric vehicles and industrial machinery. Since 2006, they have been revolutionizing their clients’ applications with various types of lithium cells, leveraging their expertise in these cutting-edge technologies. The entire production process takes place in Italy, specifically in Reggio Emilia, a hub for Italian mechanical and electronic excellence. XBW’s passion and determination drive them to create tailor-made solutions for their clients. Their extensive range of lithium batteries caters to various sectors, offering advantages such as reduced charging time, high energy efficiency, low maintenance, and extended working hours. Whether it’s electric tractors, agricultural machinery, or aerial platforms, XBW’s commitment to quality and innovation shines through. Challenge XBW is a leader in Battery Management Systems and custom lithium batteries across various sectors. XBW creates high-performance batteries for diverse vehicle applications (industrial, agricultural, marine vehicles…), and has the need to optimize energy usage for improved performance, range, and battery lifespan. In fact, customized batteries available today are limited in their ability to dynamically adapt to changing usage conditions and specific vehicle needs. This lack of intelligent systems inhibits the full potential of electric batteries. Therefore, XBW is seeking a software (e.g. algorithms, AI, or others) and/or hardware solution capable of assessing battery usage and performance based on driving behaviour, external data (e.g. weather conditions), and internal data (electric current, electric voltage, and temperature). By elaborating and processing all these data, this system should provide insights on the battery’s state of charge, usage and abuse (SOH, State of Health), as well as hints on how to optimize battery and vehicle usage. This elaboration shall be provided to the vehicle's central control unit (VCU) in real time and/or periodically. Objectives Scouting a software/hardware solution enabling advanced analysis of vehicle data to enhance battery and vehicle efficiency. The targeted Technology Readiness Level (TRL) for this solution ranges between 5 and 7. XBW is interested in collaborating with startups/scaleups to co-develop a PoC or to launch pilot projects together.
