Dr. Spanakis is the COO, CIO and Co-Founder of Traqbeat Technologies PC. Dr. Emmanouil G. Spanakis is also an an Associate Researcher at the Computational Bio-Medicine Laboratory (CBML) of the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH-ICS). He leads the Research and Development (R&D) activities in Personal Health Systems and the Internet of Medical Things. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2009 from the University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece. His expertise and research lie in the broad scientific fields of computational medicine and wireless communication networks, particularly in biomedical informatics, wireless medical sensors, Artificial Intelligence, Security and confidentiality for health data, biometric recognition systems, as well as in wireless ad-hoc networks, wireless interference channels, performance and analysis of routing protocols in mobile ad-hoc networks, and wireless network measurements analysis. His work has been funded by numerous national and international research programs, and he has actively participated in many EU and national projects. He is currently a principal investigator/coordinator in a European project titled TRUSTEE, focused on utilizing Self-Sovereign technologies with cutting-edge homomorphic encryption to provide a socially and environmentally sensitive framework for the interdisciplinary federation of secure data spaces. He was the principal investigator in the EU project "SpeechXRays," focusing on Voice and Face-based Biometrics research for health, and "Daphne," focusing on resilient network services for critical mobile health applications, a project funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), under contract number [1337]. He is a founding member of Cello, the Cretan Epidemiology Observatory for Public Health, focused on studying and modeling disease evolution. He has published over 65 papers in scientific archival journals, international conference and workshop proceedings, books, book chapters, and scientific newsletters related to his fields of interdisciplinary expertise. He organized/chaired two annual international workshops and has delivered numerous invited lectures worldwide in his field of expertise.
