Investing in Europe's Manufacturing Future - Keynotes & Panel Discussion

Location:Main Stage

From the Lunar Society to a New Industrialism

The emergence of artificial intelligence signals the beginning of an industrial transformation that may mirror the profound shifts of the first Industrial Revolution. What can we learn from historical patterns of work, industry, and automation in manufacturing? What does it take to transform the industrial systems that enable our world? Rather than simply replacing labor, new technologies tend to create new work and industries, even as they disrupt existing ones.

In his talk, David highlights lessons for AI, the future of work, and our current moment of industrial transformation. How can investors help scale new manufacturers into these enormous markets? He looks at several technologies and manufacturing companies today that embody the ideals of a new industrialism: making things, and making things better, are crucial pathways to improving our world.

Europe’s scale-up gap: What’s holding back industrial growth?

As manufacturing enters a new industrial era shaped by AI, sustainability, geopolitical shifts, and technological disruption, one question becomes increasingly urgent: how can innovative manufacturing ventures successfully scale into globally competitive companies? While technological innovation is strong, many ventures struggle to move from pilot projects to industrial-scale production and international growth. This panel discussion brings together perspectives from investment, entrepreneurship, and industrial transformation to explore what it truly takes to scale manufacturing ventures in today’s economy.
