Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, IARA

FH Kärnten, officially known as the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS), is a university of applied sciences located in Carinthia, Austria. Established in 1995, it offers a wide range of Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in fields like technology, business, health, and social affairs.

The Institute for Applied Research on Ageing (IARA) investigates the challenges and potentials of an ageing society. It is the first competence centre at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences to specialise in applied research. Our aim is to develop innovative interdisciplinary approaches and solutions that can improve the social, health and economic situation of older people through practical research in exemplary projects.

The results are made available to politics, business and civil society and are also incorporated into the practice-oriented everyday teaching at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. The reserach centre IARA is characterised by its application orientation, participative research methods and transdisciplinarity. Transdisciplinarity is achieved through the cooperation of three departments with social science, economic and technical know-how.
