About me
Thomas Pellizzari is a passionate entrepreneur with a focus on medical informatics. After studying theoretical physics at the University of Innsbruck and at the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA), Thomas worked as a research assistant in Innsbruck and at the University of Oxford until 1997. During this time, numerous publications in the field of quantum computing emerged.
After returning from Oxford, Thomas started his entrepreneurial career together with fellow students and received several young entrepreneur awards. The companies founded at that time were phion, which went public in 2007 and was acquired by Barracuda Networks later, and icoserve, which has been acquired by Siemens Healthineers in 2007.
In 2005 Thomas founded synedra with his partners Johannes Fellner and Stefan Andreatta. synedra became a leader in the field of Health Content Management. synedra employs approximately 100 employees at its headquarters in Innsbruck, and subsidiaries in Zurich and Berlin. Thomas was CEO of synedra until 2020.
In 2020, Thomas founded akedis Group to expand his entrepreneurial ambitions. synedra became a part of akedis Group. Moreover, Thomas co-founded OneVision Healthcare as the consulting subsidiary of akedis Group.
The latest endeavor of Thomas is akedis Innovations, which develops health IT solutions in an agile way for improving patient care. The cornerstone of the company is that structured medical data is the key to improve efficiency of healthcare professionals and, in turn, the experience of patients.
