The Broker is a non-profit organisation with a mission to strengthen knowledge use for more just and sustainable societies

We focus on strengthening impact pathways for research uptake, knowledge co-creation & utilization by:

  • Support to stakeholder engagement (research-policy-civil society-private sector)

  • Capacity building of research consortia and target groups

  • Research communication and stakeholder workshops

  • Quick-scan, synthesis, policy brief development

  • Advise and support on knowledge brokering for advocacy with local partners

Knowledge brokering for advocacy (2023-2024)

In this project, we explore how to co-create, use and share diverse forms of knowledge to make advocacy more effective and equitable for greater epistemic justice and climate justice. By focusing on different stakeholders and their experiences in Kenya, Brazil and Indonesia, the project aims to uncover best practices, challenges and opportunities for the effective use of knowledge for advocacy from a Global South perspective.

SDG Interactions (2021-2026)

The research program on ‘SDG Interactions and Policy Interventions in Developing Countries’ aims to explore the interdependencies between Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their influence on policy interventions. The Broker carries out a ‘Knowledge Brokering and Synthesis’ project aiming to synthesize and disseminate the research results to policymakers, development workers, academics, and other stakeholders.

INCLUDE knowledge platform (2012-2026)

Dutch-African platform that promotes evidence-based policymaking on inclusive development in Africa through research, knowledge sharing and policy dialogue.
