About me
Dr. Mulugeta Chanie Fenta is an Assistant Professor and leading researcher in hydrogeophysics at the Blue Nile Water Institute (BNWI), Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He specializes in the study of groundwater dynamics, water scarcity solutions, and sustainable water management through the application of advanced geophysical and hydrogeological techniques. Dr. Mulugeta’s research aims to address critical issues such as clean drinking water access, aquifer sustainability, and the interactions between surface water and groundwater systems.
With an impressive academic background, Dr. Mulugeta holds a PhD degree in Earth Sciences (Hydrogeophysics) from University of Szeged, Hungary, where he developed expertise in geophysical methodologies and their application in hydrology. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in research projects that examine subsurface water systems, assess groundwater quality, and improve aquifer recharge models, contributing to sustainable water solutions in Ethiopia and beyond.
Dr. Mulugeta is also dedicated to capacity-building and community outreach, working closely with students, policymakers, and local communities. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, presenting his work at international conferences and collaborating with global institutions. His commitment to water resource sustainability continues to drive impactful research aimed at development resilience in water systems amidst climate change and growing water demand.
