About

Metaxu Studio is a digital architecture and VR design practice focused on spatial design and immersive application development. We started by delivering 3D visualisation stills and animations across architecture and interior design, then moved to the arts and charities sectors, developing VR applications for web-based experiences and Meta Store.

Notable projects included "In My Skin," a narrative VR experience commissioned by Moroccan charity Cent Pour Cent Maman and published on Meta Quest AppLab, which follows a single mother's journey toward integration into a more egalitarian society. The project was documented by TV5 Monde.

We collaborated with artist Ashley Zelinskie on "Unfold the Universe," a Mozilla Hubs experience exploring the James Webb Space Telescope imagery, which won the Interior Design Magazine MAD Award 2023 for Immersive Digital Art. The studio also produced "The Sublime 3.0: Fear and Awe," a virtual exhibition featuring contemporary women artists, created in collaboration with Gabriella Gasparini, Deen Atger, and MiMi Lamine.

Between 2020 and 2023, we produced and hosted the InReal-Time event series—monthly virtual gatherings on Mozilla Hubs bringing together the XR community, artists, and designers for immersive art experiences and discussions. Working with creative collaborators to build experiences that didn't feel like corporate training modules. Some projects were client commissions, others were experimental work to figure out what actually worked in VR.

The studio explored the intersection of architectural thinking and digital-native spaces, treating virtual environments as legitimate architectural projects rather than mere visualisations.
