Accumulation of solar thermal energy and cold in the form of ice for subsequent electricity production using the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC).

ORC is mainly used for electricity generation with a capacity of up to 100 kW.

The efficiency of ORC installations depends primarily on the temperature of the hot accumulator, which is 300-400 degrees Celsius (upper source) and reaches 15-25%.

Advantages of ORC compared to electric batteries:

the payback period of ORC equipment is 3-4 times shorter than its service life, which is three times better than that of known lithium-ion batteries,

the service life of ORC equipment is three times longer than that of known lithium-ion batteries,

high fire resistance and environmental friendliness of equipment disposal.

ORC with thermal accumulators are competitive in cases of excess renewable energy sources or lack of need for instant response to changes in electrical load.

Thermal energy is stored in 3 accumulators in the project:

- in hot - due to concentrated solar energy in regions with a large number of sunny days or due to cheap electricity in other areas;

- in thermal - energy is produced in thermal solar water collectors, including evacuated ones. During the heating season, when there are few sunny days, this accumulator is filled with water from the hot water supply or heating system. In experimental tests of ORC, this can be done without using collectors.

- in cold - ice is generated in freezers using cheap energy during hours of its surplus.
