4OPT is a spin-off of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) specializing in AI-driven optimization and Decision Support Systems for complex industrial and operational decision-making.

We combine artificial intelligence, machine learning, mathematical optimization, and simulation to transform heterogeneous data into actionable decisions. Our expertise covers the entire decision-making pipeline: data collection and integration, data-driven prediction and estimation, mathematical modeling, optimization, simulation, and the development of user-oriented Decision Support Systems.

Our core competence is the integration of machine learning and operations research through predict-then-optimize approaches. We develop both exact and heuristic optimization algorithms to address complex problems involving scheduling, planning, resource allocation, logistics, production, and other decision-making processes subject to multiple constraints and uncertainties.

4OPT also has expertise in quantum optimization, including the formulation of optimization problems as QUBO models and their solution using quantum annealing and other emerging quantum computing approaches.

Within European collaborative projects, 4OPT can contribute to algorithm and methodology development, AI/ML and optimization tasks, decision-support system design and implementation, data-driven modeling, simulation, technology demonstrators, and the validation of solutions in real-world use cases. We are particularly interested in collaborations where advanced optimization and AI can improve the efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of complex systems.
