The Polytechnic University of Tirana (UPT) is Albania's leading technical and engineering university, established in 1991. It comprises seven faculties with around 794 staff and over 10,000 students, spanning mechanical, electrical, civil and information-technology engineering, mathematics, physics, geology and mining. UPT combines engineering education with applied research in industrial technologies, digital transformation, energy and sustainability. It is active in EU-funded research and capacity-building consortia including the Horizon project AHEAD (AI-informed approaches for electric-vehicle integration in distribution grids) and LAIA, the Laboratory on Artificial Intelligence in Albania and Kosovo and coordinates several Erasmus+ projects. UPT brings an EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (Western Balkans) perspective to European AI, industrial and digital-technology consortia.
