FrameFix – Real-Time Audio Frame Reconstruction for Resilient Digital Communications
CEO / CTO at CandyVoice
Strasbourg, France
About
FrameFix is CandyVoice’s real-time audio frame reconstruction technology, designed to maintain speech intelligibility and continuity when voice data is affected by severe packet loss or unstable network conditions.
Unlike conventional Packet Loss Concealment approaches, FrameFix reconstructs missing speech segments at signal level after vocoder decoding. It can recover sequences of up to 12 consecutive 10 ms packets (120 ms) while preserving the temporal and spectral coherence of the speech signal.
The technology is independent of the vocoder and transport layer, enabling integration with codecs such as AMR, MELPe, TETRA or Opus and with RTP, VoIP, radio or MCX environments without requiring modification of existing communication protocols.
FrameFix is designed for real-time edge execution with no cloud dependency and can be deployed on DSP, ARM and x86 architectures or in secure containers. Tests under highly degraded conditions have demonstrated maintained intelligibility at packet-loss rates of up to 50%, while also improving downstream AI processing: under high packet loss conditions (~50%), FrameFix reduced ASR Word Error Rate by a factor of two.
For Horizon Europe collaborative projects, CandyVoice can contribute FrameFix as a technological building block for resilient distributed communications, edge computing and robust AI-based speech processing, particularly where network quality, connectivity or computing resources cannot be guaranteed.
Potential research and integration activities include:
-
resilient voice processing across distributed and edge infrastructures;
-
reconstruction of speech affected by packet loss and unstable connectivity;
-
improving the robustness of downstream speech AI and ASR;
-
integration into heterogeneous communication and computing architectures;
-
evaluation under degraded network and real-world operating conditions.
CandyVoice is interested in joining European consortia where FrameFix can be integrated, validated and further developed within resilient distributed digital infrastructures and AI-enabled communication systems.
