Chemical Recycling of Polyolefins
About
Our research team at METU, together with colleagues from SOCAR R&D, is actively engaged in polymer science, catalysis, and sustainable process development, with a growing focus on the chemical recycling of polyolefins into value-added feedstocks. We combine expertise in heterogeneous catalysis, reactor engineering, and polymer characterization to develop novel upcycling strategies aligned with circular economy principles.
METU has extensive experience in coordinating and participating in EU-funded projects, including Horizon Europe, ERA-NET, and national co-funded calls. The university’s Technology Transfer Office and EU Project Office provide comprehensive support for proposal development, IP management, and dissemination activities.
We are currently seeking academic, industrial, and municipal partners with complementary expertise in plastic waste collection and sorting, advanced recycling technologies, life cycle assessment, and process scale-up, to develop a joint proposal addressing upcoming European calls focused on circular plastics, decarbonization of the chemical sector, and sustainable materials.
We would be glad to connect to explore synergies and define a joint vision for a collaborative initiative in this critical area.
