About

The Mechanics of Materials and Manufacturing Processes (M2P) area addresses the majority of scientific and technical industrial issues encountered during the life cycle of a material, which is developed, implemented by a process (manufacturing or assembly), stressed in service (fatigue, dynamics) and then recycled, all within a robust design logic.

Experimental numerical dialogue on the platforms in this area enables us to place the objects of our research (from the test piece to the substructure) in highly discriminating conditions that are representative of the industrial situations encountered (high temperature, high stress speeds, chaining of manufacturing operations, semi-industrial scale, etc.). Innovative manufacturing technologies are at the heart of M2P's roadmap, including additive manufacturing, mixed assembly processes and very high-speed manufacturing processes. Materials studied include metal alloys, composites, polymers and biological materials.
