About

Our research environment at UNAM delivers a complete value chain from innovative research and development to scalable fabrication, industrial-scale production, and validation of electrodes and electrochemical sensors. The technology, which we call Sensor Platform Technology (SPT), is designed for translation into real-world applications and can be deployed across medical, agricultural, food, and environmental industries.  Set of our core capabilities on SPT as follows: 

Advanced Research & Technology Development

·         Fundamental and applied research in nanoscience/nanotechnology, biotechnology/nanobiotechnology, and material science/engineering.

·         Transdisciplinary research integrating chemistry, physics, biology, material science, electronics engineering, and mechanical engineering

·         Development of advanced sensors and device platforms for chemical, biological, and physical sensing

·         Turning scientific discoveries into functional prototypes and products

·         Project management, including risk management, of a research project

Design, Development, and Engineering of Electrodes and Sensors

·         Custom design and development of flexible, wearable, invasive/non-invasive sensor architectures, including microfluidic platforms and microneedle systems

·         Custom design of multi-layered electrode architectures for application-specific electrochemical sensing.

·         Materials engineering and synthesis of advanced materials (polymers, nanomaterials, composites)

·         Ultra-fast, high-precision functional surface coating capability

·         Rapid prototyping of micro-structured electrodes and sensor systems using in-house fabrication infrastructure

·         Optimization of electrode geometry, material interfaces and electrochemical performance

·         Design and prototyping of printed circuit boards for sensor monitoring

·         Integration of electrodes and electrochemical sensors with embedded electronics

·         Pilot-scale production and validation under application-relevant conditions

·         Reliability testing, aging analysis, and environmental stability studies

·         Iterative development cycles enabled by academic research infrastructure and multidisciplinary expertise.

·         Calibration methodologies and system-level performance optimization

 ·         Rapid prototyping and mass production of electrodes and electrochemical sensors

·         Cleanroom-compatible microfabrication of electrodes and sensor components

·         Advanced industrial scale micro fabrication infrastructure including patterning process, photolithography, mask writing, screen-printing, ultra-fast, high-precision nano/pico liter dispensing, precise laser cutting

·         Industrial-scale production capability of micro structured sensors and device

·         Precise and delicate fabrication of thousands of microneedles in various sizes and shapes on a single patch

·         Packaging capability to transfer sensors

Testing, Validation & Performance Evaluation

·         Validation of manufacturing process and documentation

·         Design and engineering of automated bench test setup for electrochemical sensor testing by using custom hardware and software including specially designed and 3D printed reservoir to for microfluidic simulation.

·         Advanced data processing and statistical analysis of electrochemical sensor outputs

·         Analytical performance evaluation (sensitivity, selectivity, limit of detection, response time)

·         Stability, lifetime, and environmental robustness testing

·         Benchmarking against international standards and reference methods

·         Data visualization and decision-support tools
