About
ISWA is a global network of waste management professionals and organisations, with:
-
48 National Members across all continents (national waste management associations),
-
organisational members from industry, cities, and utilities, and
-
individual experts from the full value chain of waste and resource management.
Through this network and our General Secretariat team, ISWA is strongly positioned to contribute to proposals and projects as a partner focused on:
Communication and dissemination
-
Design and implementation of strategic communication and dissemination plans for research and innovation projects.
-
Development of clear, practice oriented messages for policymakers, industry, local authorities, and the general public.
-
Organisation of international webinars, workshops, conference sessions, and campaigns.
-
Use of ISWA communication channels (website, newsletters, social media, events) to maximise outreach and impact.
-
Industry outreach, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building
Direct access to and engagement with waste management operators, technology providers, municipalities, and regulators via ISWA national members and working groups.
-
Facilitation of stakeholder consultations, advisory boards, and co creation processes.
-
Development and delivery of training materials, guidelines, and capacity building programmes for practitioners and authorities.
Policy research and strategic input on circular economy and waste
-
Analysis of European and international policy developments on circular economy, waste prevention, plastics, climate change, and related topics.
-
Contributions to policy briefs, recommendations, and exploitation strategies aligned with European Green Deal objectives and United Nations processes.
-
Bringing in project relevant perspectives from our thematic Working Groups (for example on recycling, waste minimisation, waste and climate change, waste to energy, biological treatment, hazardous waste, healthcare waste, landfills, legal issues, and communications).
ISWA already participates in European and international initiatives and processes, including:
-
the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) negotiations and COP conferences, and
-
the negotiations towards an international legally binding instrument to end plastic pollution.
We are therefore particularly interested in collaborating on projects that:
-
develop and scale circular economy solutions across value chains,
-
reduce environmental and climate impacts of products and waste,
-
address plastic pollution and marine litter,
-
support cities and regions in the transition to circular and low carbon systems, and
-
require strong engagement of practitioners, industry, and policymakers.
