CRM Group is a Belgian Research and Technology Organization (RTO) providing applied research, development, and technology transfer services in the fields of materials, metal transformation, and advanced manufacturing processes. With over seven decades of experience, CRM Group bridges the gap between academic research and industrial deployment, supporting innovation across multiple sectors including automotive, aerospace, construction, energy, and defense.
The Group operates extensive pilot-scale and laboratory facilities in Belgium, covering the complete materials and manufacturing value chain:

Additive Manufacturing (AM): powder-bed, wire-DED, and hybrid processes, including 3D printed electronics and sensors.

Surface Engineering: cold and thermal spraying, PVD/CVD coatings, and surface functionalisation.

Material Characterisation Laboratories: corrosion, tribology, microstructure analysis, mechanical and environmental testing.

Circular economy and recycling platforms, with pilot units for metal recovery and sustainable re-use of industrial by-products streams.
CRM Group also maintains large industrial pilot halls, enabling prototype development, process scale-up, and pre-industrial validation under real operating conditions.
As an active participant in numerous European collaborative projects (Horizon Europe, RFCS, Clean Sky, SPIRE, and EDF), CRM Group has strong expertise in project coordination, demonstration activities, and industrial exploitation. Its multidisciplinary teams contribute to the design of smart, connected, and sustainable manufacturing solutions supporting Europe’s technological autonomy and green transition.
